What is a Vine Video?

A Vine video is a six second video. You create them the way you’d create any other video – using your phone or video camera and your favorite video editing tool. Once the video has been created you upload it to Vine. You can then share the video on Twitter and Facebook. Vine has stated that they’ll be adding more social networks soon.

So the question isn’t can you publish a Vine video but should you? The answer is a resounding yes!

Why Use Vine?

Social media isn’t going anywhere; in fact it will only continue to grow. As it grows so too will the way your audience uses it. Soon after its release Vine quickly became the most downloaded mobile phone application for iOS and Android phones. It’s also incredibly popular – in fact, according to a study published by Unruly Media, every second, five tweets contain a Vine link. There are now more than six million users.

Additionally, due to the short six second nature of a Vine video, it forces you to get creative. There’s no opportunity for a long winded sales pitch here. You have to get right to the point and you have to make it in a creative and compelling manner. Creating effective Vine videos may take a little trial and error, but once you get one that goes viral it’ll be well worth the effort.

Easy to Track, Create, and Brand

Like Twitter, you can and should use #Hashtags to help promote, identify, and brand your videos. When it comes to branding your business, Vine can be quite powerful. You can use it to show your products or services being used in real life. This provides your prospects with some context. You can share a quick bite of information and provide value to your viewers.

You can also use it to demonstrate a product or show the benefits of using your services. It’s great for a quick “how to” moment or an example of a common mistake to avoid. In short, any way you might use print content to provide value you can use a Vine video too. If you’re not using Vine, check it out. It may be a powerful and profitable addition to your social media strategy.
